I Don't Even Know Your Name

As you may have gathered from my last few posts, I've been in a funk. Today at lunch I did something about it.

Picture if you will a lady sitting in a booth at a resteraunt.
In the next booth is a gentleman sitting by himself - he is facing the lady.
The gentleman is a friend of the waiter serving him. In the course of the conversation between the friends, the lady overhears that the gentleman is a cancer survivor. (not just cancer, but the same type of cancer that the lady has fought.) The lady apologizes for interrupting the gentlemen, and acknowledges this discovery. The male survivor proposes a toast to the survivors.
The lady goes back to reading her book while waiting for her meal. The waiter and the gentleman continue their conversation on and off across the resteraunt.
Fast forward, the gentleman is still dining when the lady gets ready to leave.
The waiter is assisting the lady at the register. "Would you like anything else? A brownie?" he asks. "No,thank you," the lady replies, "but I would like to pick up your friend's tab....from one survivor to another." The waiter was confused and asked if the lady was sure. She reiterated her desire, paid for both meals and headed for the door.
She wasn't all the way out the door when the waiter told the gentleman what had happened, across the resteraunt.
She didn't get to see the gentleman's reaction, but had a smile on her face by the time she got to her car.

Moral of this story....Sometimes doing a random act of kindness for a total stranger can really help your mood.

And sometimes reading about such an act of kindness can help the blog reader's mood as well.

Thank you, Chris.
